Building your survey

CWEST offers you comprehensive questionnaire design. Its database designer brings together the question, its translation, a linked instruction for the interviewer manual, skipping patterns and so forth. Furthermore CWEST allows you to define, during design, how data are exported into statistical software analysis packages; defining labels and determining the most suitable file/table to which to export a particular variable. This avoids the problem of making questionnaires that in the end lead to complicated data structures. Because data export is defined at the outset, data from the field can be exported and analysed from day one.

Capturing your requirements and adding value

Capitalising on our experience of survey delivery in the field, we’ll work with you to rapidly understand you survey needs, its legacy and the field constraints imposed by the region you are working in. We will then present you with recommended options to deliver your technology enhanced survey. Options include: the amount of work you want to do and you want us to do, technology options (don’t worry we’ll find the best options based on your field requirements now and in the future), training and support to meet your need, experience and budget etc.

CWEST ensures that we capture the architecture of survey as well as its contents: we will link listing and other instruments together, incorporate data from previous rounds of panel surveys and build in their automatic linking to the next round, create common data structures across countries so that data can be adequately compared even where response codes differ for specific country profiles, build complex validation routines and skipping patterns etc.

Demonstrating the potential building in knowledge

Once you have selected your optimum option, we’ll produce a prototype solution for you to try out; together we’ll make sure that you’re getting what you need (and often prompting more ideas on how to use the technology to enhance the survey further). Following this we keep in close contact with you as we build your cwestionnaire; our survey experienced staff will be in dialogue with you to ensure you get the most from the technology, raising issues and suggesting improvements along the way.

Deployment for rapid uptake

Having ensured that CWEST has built the right technology solution for you (your cwestionnaire), we can train you survey lead, supervisors or staff as required, when and where you require. Cwestionnaires are built for simplicity so the typical experience is that we can keep your cost down by simply training your survey leader on the cwestionnaire and the supervisor functions built around it (e.g. assigning clusters and teams, collating data, running MIS reports, transmitting collated date etc.). Such is the simplicity that your survey leader then can rapidly introduce the cwestionnaire to your field staff. We can pre-load your survey onto your mobile technology (experience has shown us that Ultra Mobile PCs are great for the job) or supply you with the bundled application suite for you to distribute.
